Random Acts of Violence (2013)

I knew absolutely nothing about this flick when I put it on the other night out of boredom for a bit of a time-killer. While it was far from GREAT, it's a decent enough 'black comedy'/crime/ mockumentary.

A limey New Yorker is disgusted by the gentrification of the Big Apple since Giuliani cleaned house, so he has a camera crew follow him around as he murders random people in hopes of kick-starting a revolution. Throughout his filmed 'manifesto', he becomes increasingly aggravated by the lack of media coverage of his crimes and tensions rise between him and the director when he tries involving his girlfriend in his killing spree...

"Random Acts of Violence" is obviously another knock-off of "Man Bites Dog" - only in the form of an urban-hipster movie. It actually works well as a more of a character-driven narrative than a serial killer movie - with the main "subject" of the faux-doc being a completely hypocritical and pretentious douchebag which makes him somewhat of an enjoyably unlikable character. Again, it's nothing outstanding in the least, but I've seen far worse so I'd give it a mild recommendation if you dig dark comedies and hate hipsters.
